Thanks to all who contributed to the success of our Festival, especially hosts Angie Batey (East), Jane Warren and Ed Scruggs, (Middle), and Cooper Patterson and Dian Eddleman (West), and the many student workers and support colleagues who helped make this happen from beginning to end.

The adjudicators were very complimentary of the overall quality of Tennessee choirs they heard over the last few days.  Kudos to each director for preparing his/her choirs and helping his/her students deliver such inspired performances.  Please pass along to your students also how impressed the judges were at their appropriate behavior as audience members; it is important they hear the positive feedback in that area of performance as well.  I hope you were pleased with the level of comments you received and will take them as constructive criticism for ourselves and our students.  It is our job, as Festival participants, to continue our journey towards constant improvement and, just as importantly, to invite those schools in our areas who do not participate in Regional/State Festivals to sign up next year!  It is through this evaluation that we continue to raise the level of choral excellence in Tennessee.

Of course, another evaluation of our Festival experience is through the Grade level and cumulative scores, which are posted below.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING THE SCORES:

Due to a software malfunction, the scores for Tim Banks (Judge #1) were averaged incorrectly.  This tabulation error was not noticed until early on Friday, after the scores had been posted for the East and the Middle scores had been sent home with directors and schools.  THE SCORES POSTED BELOW ARE CORRECT!  You will notice that the numerical scores for Bill Caldwell (Judge #2) and Rebecca Rockhill (Judge #3) have not changed.  The software anomaly was specific to Judge #1’s numerical score only.  In fixing the problem, we did not alter the numbers each choir earned from Tim Banks; rather, we simply averaged them correctly.  With Tim Banks’ numerical score corrected below, your Cumulative Average might have changed by around one tenth of a point.  In most cases, the Grade (A, A-, B+, etc) stayed the same.  In a few cases in which a choir’s score was close to the threshold of another Grade Level, it changed.

Again, THE SCORES BELOW ARE CORRECT.  Sincere apologies for this error, and thank you for your understanding.  While these scores provide a measure of the Festival experience, the more important ones are the changes in choirs and us and directors brought about by this evaluative and instructive process.  My congratulations to all those who chose to submit to such an educational endeavor, and thank you for your continued dedication to our art!
